The website Alice introduced to us is so useful that I could search all kinds of informations conveniently, owning to some websites that were classified. Moreover, I could take advantages of the technological tools for teaching or designing lesson plans or enriching my professional knowledge or sharing good things. The website actually opens my eye.

Comments for Group 6- Teaching writing

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:22 pm by cutegirlisme

mouse1.gif  In the introduction part, Hyde and Vicent took many theories as examples to explain what writing is, and how to write. From this, I got an important poin, that is, writing must have to link to the experience of the students. This way would provide students more stimulation and reflection about their life.

Then as to the body of the teaching, they played an act – the Star War and requested us to write a summary about the role-play. I thought the three teachers were good at acting because they performed the characters well and they made some sound effect by their tools. It was quite interesting. However, I had some suggestions for the summary part. Because our studnets might be junior or senior high school students, I regarded that if teachers could give them more guides about the writing contains, such as some key words, vocabulary or some transition words, or some useful sentence patterns, even some grammatical rules, maybe students would have done better.

What’s more, group 6 used the writing process method to teach us how to write, I considered that this was a better way to teach writing because students had more opportunities to change or share their ideas. It broke the traditional way to teach writing. Nevertheless, about the time, there was not enough time for students to rewrite. That would be a little pity.

Eventually, fot the closure, they gave us a summary about teaching writing.I thanked for their good presentation. You had a good job!

Characteristic of English Teaching in Lishan Junior High School

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:12 am by cutegirlisme

bear-1.gif       Lishan Junior High School has an English Resources Class which provides a bilingual environment so as to improve students’ communication ability. If students want to join the program, not only do they have to pass the English Proficiency Test, but they have to take the aptitude test as well. Besides, their intelligence quotient have to reach the standard (IQ 115~123 ) . Then the teacher will choose about 30 students (They will be classified into 4groups) to form the English Resources Class for each grade, and those students have to go to the English Re sources Classroom when they have English classes.

In addition, there are some differences between the courses of English Resources Class and common English class. In order to promote the English proficiency of those students, teachers will provide further outside-readings or homework for them or design other activities for them, except the English textbook Moreover, the teacher of the English Resources Class will demand those students to take part in some English contests in school, such as story telling, or English speech…so on. Through training this way, the four skills abilities of those students would be improved.

What’s more, each student of the English Resources Class has to produce his or her own learning file. When I saw their records, I thought not merely the students but also the teachers work very hard. The teacher must spend lots of time to design their teaching plans and give some feedback to their students when students turned in their assignments. As long as the students received the backwash from their teachers, they would rewrite their assignments and make a stride for their English abilities.

The English program may be a good method to help students improve the English capability, but we have to consider the labelization for students. However, the Teacher Wu said that this situation might become a benign competition for students. Sometimes the students of the English Resources Class would be laughed by their classmates because they didn’t do well. But the response of their classmates didn’t have the intention to hurt those students. They just want everyone would progress, and probably it is a way of competition, and the teacher would pay attention to this circumstance. Anyway, I thought appropriate pressure or courage would make students grow up.

Comments for Group 5- Teaching Reading

Posted in Resent Posts at 2:48 pm by cutegirlisme

flower12.gif   The presentation of the group 4 was very good. Their procedure was so clear that we could involve into their teaching quickly. About the first part, warm up, they used a little game to teach vocabulary and showed some pictures for us to guess the meaning and demanded some students to read the paragraphs. This method could make us easily enter the lesson but the speed of the vocabulary part was a little fast.

As to the main body, they used another ways to teach new words, such as synonyms, examples sentence-making ……so on. The diverse manners didn’t make students bored. However, I had a suggestion that worksheet would assist teachers to teach or explain the meaning of the paragraphs easily. Besides, discovering the main idea by students themselves could make them more expressed. Then, the information-hunting activity was a kind of review or practice. The activity was not merely interesting but also a little tiring. Anyway I enjoyed it, and I liked the background music because its tempo was a little bite quick and matched the activity. Nevertheless, the instruction was not so clear that the activity was a little delayed and the time –consuming.

Consequently, they gave learners the summary about the lesson and assign homework to end up the course. In general, they did the good job because in the class, we had the four skills training, not only the reading skill. What’s more, I appreciated the preformance of the three teachers.

Comments for Group4- Teaching Speaking

Posted in Resent Posts at 3:06 pm by cutegirlisme

dog-2.gif  There were some advantages for your demonstration about teaching speaking. First of all, using the technology, Moddy Muti-language website, was a good method to support teaching; meanwhile, it could rise our motivation to learn because this film was interesting and was conformed to the context. Secondly, they made the film to be  an authentic material that created the virtual-real environment for the students learning. Moreover, before teaching, you taught the vocabulary and some phrases to help students know how to use them in the following activity-role-play. Thirdly, the role-play not only provided us a good opportunity to practice but stimulated our creativities for learning as well. Furthermore, Harry had an excellent pronunciation that also helped students for listening.

In the other hand, although you had a good introduction for the beginning of the lesson, you didn’t design the warm-up activity to spark the learning motivation or link the acquired knowledge. Besides, you lacked of the summary or giving us assignment in the ending, If you had don’t this part, the presentation could have been better. To sum up, you teaching was good and had lots of the interaction with students.

Comments for Group 3- Teaching Listening

1-03.gif  The group3 took the film as a listening comprehension material, and this interesting video could increase the motivation for learners. Furthermore, you demanded every other group to do the role-play and assured every one could have the opportunities to practice. What’s more, this role-play activity stimulated us the creativities to perform with different ways and made the practice more interesting. And the most special thing was the activity was a kind of reading theater that performers didn’t recite but just read the lines and used different intonations to express their feeling. Through using this method that included the speaking and reading ability, it could reduce the anxiety when learners were learning. Besides, using flashcards was a good way to support their teaching, and you asked learners to make sentences for each of words in order to repeat practices.

However, there were so many repetitions for the same thing that learners could feel bored. Moreover, There were some suggestions for you, that was, not only in the beginning that you didn’t design the warm-up activity but also in the ending that lacked of the summary or giving us some assignment. If you had done this, the presentation could be better. In short, you did a good job.
